Tina de Jager – Valley Venture Stud and Friends auction successfully sells variety of animals

Tina de Jager needs no introduction to followers of the high value game breeding industry. She has been at the forefront of breeding top quality species such as sable and the magnificent red oryx. But not as many people knew about her cattle breeding skill. This changed at the first Tina de Jager – Valley Venture Stud and Friends auction when she successfully sold nine lots of exquisite Santa Gertrudis stud cattle.

The turnover of the nine Santa Gertrudis lots on auction reached a very respectable R1m in total, starting this February 2017 auction of quality game off on a high note.

The perennially popular nyala species delivered excellent results at the auction, selling for a total value of R1m over six lots. Five Meletse Breeders nyala ewes in lamb to 31″ Mr Wide sold for R40 000 each for a total for lot 13 of R200 000.

When it was time for auctioneer Niel Swart to auction the magnificent 49″ sable bull Tequila as lot 21, one could feel the palpable anticipation of the large audience reaching fever pitch. This remarkable Zambian bull, a son of 3448” Ouma Bok eventually sold for the auction’s highest individual price of R6.8m. Truly a remarkable sale.

Other species also delivered strong interest from attendees, leading to a total auction turnover of R41m.
